My Priorities
Excellence in Education
As a school board member and current Chairman, I am responsible for working with the school administration to ensure meaningful and innovative learning experiences that empower all learners to achieve their highest unique potential. It is critical that we provide challenging and engaging curricula and opportunities to prepare our students for their future.
Safety
The safety of our staff and students is paramount in ensuring a productive learning environment. It is crucial that we are constantly exploring and implementing a wide variety of safety measures designed to stay ahead of evolving security challenges.
College and Career Readiness
As a School Board, it is one of our most consequential responsibilities to ensure that each student is empowered to successfully fulfill their life's purpose. For some, that means rigorous coursework that prepares them for the transition to college. For many, gaining high quality training and licensure to enter the modern workforce upon high school graduation is invaluable. I am a staunch advocate for the expansion of the Chesapeake Career Center to a state-of-the-art facility with additional programs and workforce-ready training.
Family Partnerships
It is critical that we are unwavering in our commitment to ensuring parents have visibility and involvement in their children’s education, and that we continue to lead with a focus on a high-quality education experience without the negative influence of political or social agendas.

I am committed to fighting for exceptional and competitive compensation and benefits for all of our teachers and staff to ensure we attract the best and brightest in our field.
Successes
Since January 2023, I have had the honor of serving as the Chairman of the Chesapeake School Board. During my term as a Board Member and as Chair, we have successfully navigated some of the most difficult challenges any school board has encountered.
Our schools have rebounded and are excelling after the chaotic disruption of COVID, and we have achieved many exciting new advancements, including:

Expanded safety and security measures and increased our partnerships with the Chesapeake Police and Sheriff departments

Advanced the development of a new state-of-the-art Career and Technical Education Center

Implemented raises and other intangible benefits to ensure we attract and retain excellent educators and staff

Expanded our academy programs to provide more students the opportunity for rigorous, specialized education in their area of interest

Added baseball and soccer to middle school sports, creating engaging new opportunities at an earlier age

We have accomplished a lot, but there is much work still to be done.
